With medicine, Nia’s symptoms get a little better. She still has a skin rash and dry eyes. Nia is sad to still be in the hospital. She gets a get-well card, signed by all her friends in jazz band.
It is a mental challenge to be in the hospital for a long time.
You may feel many different things:
- Hopeful.
- Afraid.
- Lonely.
- Bored.
- Worried.
- Tired.
These are normal feelings.

You can talk to your doctors and nurses about your feelings.

There are also mental health professionals who can visit you in the hospital.
It is a long and difficult treatment.
Mental health challenges during and after bone marrow transplant are normal.
