Nia’s doctor explains the treatment, benefits, and risks. After asking questions, Nia and her parents sign forms to say they understand and want to do bone marrow transplant.
Before treatment, there will be consent documents to read and sign.
You will discuss different options with your doctor and family, and they will ask for your permission before proceeding with the treatment.
- If you are under 18, your parent or other caregiver will sign the documents.
- If you are over 18, you will sign the documents yourself.
You can choose to let your parents or someone else you trust make the medical decisions for you, if you like.
Some Bone Marrow Transplants are part of clinical trials.
You may be able to undergo a half matched (haploidentical) bone marrow transplant as part of a research study.
